Classes and events, free patterns, and resources. See below for how it works!

What is this project?

  • We have so many crafters on our staff and in the community – we’re creating a tapestry featuring handiwork from the Peabody community.
  • Create your own granny squares or knitted squares and drop them off at any branch between October 1 and March 31. In the spring, we’ll collaborate on forming the squares into a tapestry that we hope to display in the library.

How do I participate?

  • There are many ways to participate in this project. If you’re already a crocheter or knitter, create your own 6 inch granny squares and bring as many as you would like to any of the branches between October 1 and March 31.
  • Pick up free monthly patterns and kits for all ages and levels at the service desks of any branch, or download it from our website. There are free patterns linked below.
  • Check out our display at the Main Library of books with instructions and patterns you can photocopy, or take home the books.
  • If you’d like to learn how to crochet, or specifically how to make a granny square, come to one of our classes for different age groups.  Check the calendar widget above (coming soon) for event listings.
  • For adults ages 18+, come to our monthly Craft and Chat to work on your squares with your neighbors and friends, and get some help with them as well.
  • Call us at 978-531-0100 with any questions, or email us at pea@noblenet.org.

How to make your squares:

  • Squares should be 6 inches wide.
  • You can use any yarn you like and any pattern you like, as long as the squares are 6 inches.
  • Get creative! Take a look at our books and resources for some ideas that go beyond the basic granny square.
